Atchison Middle School Atchison Middle School is a building that many kids in Atchison hope is still around in 100 years. Some ideas came up in our discussion about how the school could become a museum. Some kids in my sixth grade class throught it would be cool to have future relatives go to this school. Let's preserve this great historical building where so many Atchison residents have learned many skills. Mykal C.
Since this project in 2002 these students' desire to preserve the Atchison Middle School, the old Ingalls High School have come to be - the school was completely renovated from top to bottom, retaining the integrety of the original 1909 facade and will be in use as a school for years to come. |

Friendship In 100 years we hope that there will still be friendship between all the people in the world. We also hope that kids can be joined together and have fun. This picture represents kids having fun and hanging out together as friends. Let's hope that this can still happen in 100 years. Kaytee T. Faces Together Faces together...faces from many cultures. Sixth Grade students said that in 100 years they want kids to still experience the joy of sharing other cultures. Students in one sixth grade class participating in a culture-sharing project. In 100 years, may students continue to share their music, dance, religion, food, family, favorites and pride. Mykal C. |

Many Hands This picture represents many cultures coming together. Cultures have many different colors. White, Black, Mixed, Red, and Yellow. There are just combinations of different cultures. Like I am American and Carolina in Korean. So that just shows you how people are not alike but they can like similar things. Even though Jessica is from the United States, she had a different culture. So we are all different but we still like the same things and can be friends. In 100 years I hope students from differenct cultures can still appreciate one another. Tiffani G. |

Our Flag Our flag has been a symbol of peace, freedom, and rights for many years. Our military has fought for those freedoms and rights. Many have died. As we fight the wars, we think of the red, white, and the blue, and how we want the freedom to go on forever. So that means that we want the flag to stay a symbol of peace. People in 100 years can look back and remember how freedom started and what it looked like. We appreciate those who died and fought. We will still appreciate the people who serve our great country. The Rock The rock outside Atchison Middle School has been there for about as long as the schools has been here. Several special AMS moments have been held there, such as the sixth grade September 11th ceremony. It is no ordinary rock, the rock is strong and unbeatable, such as the school. We hope that in 100 years that rock will still be there. Amanda M. |

The Courthouse The Atchison County Courthouse is a symbol of justice. It is a wonderful symbol to keep people's spirits alive. When you go inside this great building it makes you feel like you are in a castle. On the top there is a clock that keeps the time of our great city. In 100 years we hope justice is still being served in that very building. Lacey B. |
