OUR MISSION
-
To preserve the only remaining buildings of a once prosperous all black business district in the City of Atchison
-
Provide a space as a business incubator in an effort to revitalize the area.

Develop a location to house a black history museum.

Increase the awareness of the contributions of the black community to the development of the Atchison community.

Increase the level of pride in the Atchison community that crosses all ethnic, religious and cultural boundaries.
Thanks to the City Council of Atchison this property was given to the Atchison County Historical Society.
Item # 3 in our Mission Statement above has been accomplished. We opened our doors to the public on Juneteenth in 2026.
Presently funding is not available to complete all of the project. We plan on continuing our work as money comes in through donation and grant applications.
